I wish this list had more options that anyone could do to save the oceans...JUST texting your friend is not going to help save the oceans, I don't even know why that's in here (foreign people texting each other about fish?)!! I wish this list were more concise because I feel like there's not much to get out of it--I don't think this article is going to help the oceans in any way :(

I do agree with the idea of giving more value and attention to small scale fisheries, but these ones are often too much market driven to be led by the idea of sustainability, unless the fishermen built legitimacy and capacity to contribute to the management and governance of the sector, including trade. So rare in the developing nations...

Getting back to or setting up territorial comanagement systems for coastal areas, where are found major spawning areas and nurseries, involving local fishermen and communities, might be one of the ways to get rid of the dommageable free access system and better manage critically important areas.

With the rising prices of oil, motors, other inputs, and the reduction of yields due to fish stocks decrease, the curve of profitability for small scale sailing fisheries using low cost fishing gears should cross the one for motorised ones in certain situations. Better using the wind generate presently very few research development efforts. Curiously, it is again the industrial sector that works more on adapting large transport boats to valorize the wind's energy !

At international level, having the fishing quotas to be respected by professionnals is a responsability of the States ; there should be sanctions applied for those who don't cope with it. for example, it is unbearable that the mediterrean States don't get to assume their responsabilities to manage the tuna fishery in a proper way. who should play the role of the cop ?

i love this, it's absolutly perfect and i didn't even know that i can help save the ocean by texting!! that was the biggest shocker ever! but for now i ust saw one flaw acually the eating of the tuna i can see where you were going with the eat the lower levels of the chart but acually eating canned or even fresh tuna is bad for you the high mercuay levels will altar your brain patterns (which isn't good!!)and make you have one masaive headach or not let you think as fast enough. But still the rest was perfectly fine to me and i really appreciate the advice. oh and im sorry if i sounded rude i just wanted to point something out (for health!) also sorry if my information was wrong you can go to this site goveg.com thats were i got my info on the fish. Good Day!!
